The Batavia 2017 event is underway at the Cafe Batavia 1920 in Amsterdam, and Australian IM Bobby Cheng currently leads with 4/4. He is a point clear of second place and is looking good for a GM norm. He beat GM Eric Lobron in yesterdays game and only needs 50% over the remaining 5 games for a GM norm. Of course this isn't always an easy task, but having played both Hastings and Gibraltar, Cheng at least had some tough events under his belt.Round 5 has just begun (Midnight Canberra time), and is being carried live on Chess24.
